Tokyo’s Most “Japanese” Experience? Go to Asakusa 🇯🇵✨

If you want to experience something very “Japanese” in Tokyo, I highly recommend going to Asakusa.

In Asakusa, you can rent a kimono and enjoy the traditional streets, street food, and temple visits all in one place.

There are also modern and stylish kimono designs now, which makes the experience even more cute and aesthetic.

I went on a weekday afternoon, and it looked like this — relaxed and not too crowded.

But on weekends, it gets much busier, so I’d recommend visiting on a weekday or during cooler seasons.

You’ll also see a lot of rickshaw drivers trying to invite you for a ride — that’s part of the atmosphere here.

If you’re looking for cute souvenirs or stylish kitchenware, I also recommend visiting nearby Kappabashi Street.

It’s a place where you can find everything from handmade crafts to practical cooking tools.

By the way, I always thought “kappa” was just a mythical creature — but in my hometown, there was even a story that kappa would take you away if you misbehaved.

What about in your country? Do you have similar folklore?

Back to today’s goal — I came here to look for Indian-style tableware.

Kappabashi isn’t only Japanese — you can also find European and Asian-style dishes and crafts.

Recently, I’ve been cooking a lot of curry with different spices, and I ended up staining my plates… so I decided to get new ones specifically for curry.

I also bought fish plates — the deep blue color feels perfect for serving fish.

It feels like the colors really match the food.

If you ever come to Japan, I highly recommend visiting here.
