My final day in Taipei was a rainy one! 🌧️ While it’s 20°C, the humidity makes it feel quite chilly—a perfect excuse to slow down and soak in the rich aromas of local breakfast and traditional tea. 🍵✨

[Breakfast: Duo Lai Jia Breakfast Restaurant] 🍳
I headed to Duo Lai Jia for a final Taiwanese breakfast, and it didn’t disappoint!
• Taiwanese Omelet (Dan Bing): Perfectly chewy and “mochi-mochi.” 😋
• Peanut Toast: This was the star! 🥜 Crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, with a rich peanut aroma that pairs beautifully with fresh soy milk. 🥛
• Hash Brown Burger: A unique discovery! 🍟 The hot, crispy potato inside a bun was surprisingly delicious.

[Wang Tea Taipei: A Tale of Two Concepts] 🍵
Next, I visited the historic Wang Tea Taipei (Youji Mingcha). This shop is fascinating because it seamlessly blends two worlds:
• The Modern Side: An artistic space where you can enjoy innovative tea beer and sparkling tea. 🍺✨
• The Classic Side: A traditional tea shop filled with beautiful teaware and the deep, roasted aroma of premium leaves. 🏛️
[Behind the Scenes: The Heart of the Tea Factory] 🏭
Beyond the shop counter lies a hidden gem: a fully functioning tea factory! 🍃 I learned about machines like the “Chugeng-ji,” which uses wind and vibration to sort tea leaves. It’s incredible how much the sorting process defines the final flavor. 💨
The highlight was the drying room with circular pits in the floor. 🧱 They use red-hot charcoal to dry the leaves like a stone oven, consuming up to 60kg of fuel at a time! 🔥 “For Jasmine tea, we start at 6 AM, add the flowers at 8 PM, and remove them the next morning,” the staff told me with a smile. Such dedication to the craft! 🌸 I couldn’t leave without buying my favorites: Tieguanyin (Iron Goddess) and the painstakingly made Jasmine Tea. 🛍️

[Airport Musings: The “Lukewarm” Mystery] ✈️
As I had my final meal at the airport, I noticed something: in Taiwan, even when you order a “Hot” drink, it’s often served at a comfortable, warm temperature rather than scalding hot. ☕️ Is it because of the climate, or a secret to preserving tea flavor? 💡
Leaving Taiwan with a full heart (and a heavy suitcase of tea). I’ll be back soon! 🇹🇼❤️
