It is also known as <strong>Girls\u2019 Day<\/strong>. Families with daughters display a set of ornamental dolls (<strong>hina-ningy\u014d, \u96db\u4eba\u5f62<\/strong>) dressed in Heian-era court attire, representing the Emperor, Empress, and their attendants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How Do People Celebrate?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Families typically celebrate by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Displaying Hina Dolls (\u96db\u4eba\u5f62\u306e\u98fe\u308a\u3064\u3051)<\/strong>: The dolls are arranged on a tiered platform covered with a red cloth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Eating Special Foods (\u7279\u5225\u306a\u98df\u3079\u7269\u3092\u697d\u3057\u3080)<\/strong>: Traditional dishes include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Chirashizushi (\u3061\u3089\u3057\u5bff\u53f8)<\/strong> \u2013 A colorful sushi bowl with fresh seafood and vegetables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Hishimochi (\u83f1\u9905)<\/strong> \u2013 A three-layered rice cake in pink, white, and green, symbolizing health, purity, and growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Hina-arare (\u3072\u306a\u3042\u3089\u308c)<\/strong> \u2013 Sweet, pastel-colored rice crackers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Shirozake (\u767d\u9152)<\/strong> \u2013 A sweet, low-alcohol rice wine (or amazake, a non-alcoholic version).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How I Celebrated This Year<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, I invited friends over and prepared <strong>chirashizushi<\/strong> along with a <strong>cheesecake inspired by hishimochi<\/strong>, layering it in pink, white, and green.
